Floating Warehouses from Walmart

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, has taken to the skies in its battle with online retailers, specifically Amazon. Walmart has applied for a patent on a floating warehouse prototype that would make deliveries via drone to doorstep.

 

The machine would resemble a blimp, flying at heights of 500 to 1,000 feet. It would house multiple drone-launching bays with the option for autonomous operation or human piloting.

 

As Amazon purchases physical stores, including Whole Foods for $13.7 billion earlier this year, and Walmart strengthens its ecommerce platform, including its recent two-day free shipping offer, the floating warehouse will undoubtedly take this retail war to the next level.
